As Head of the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Research Group at the University of Nottingham, Stan was engaged in extensive basic and clinical research aimed at understanding the function of platelets and other blood cells in physiological and pathological disease processes. He is the author of over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. His team also supported development of several antiplatelet agents, including ticagrelor (Brilinta) and cangrelor (Kengreal). He also served as the Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University and for 25 years was the Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Platelets. Stan founded Platelet Solutions with the vision of making platelet function testing easily accessible. He now acts as Scientific Advisor for Platelet Services.
