Platelet Services strengthens expertise with appointment of new Senior Scientist

We are delighted to welcome Dr Sangita Bhaker, an accomplished research scientist with dedicated expertise in cell and molecular biology, to the Platelet Services team.

Sangita graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, and went on to do a PhD in Respiratory Medicine.

Her career began at XenoGesis (now a part of Sygnature Discovery), a leading contract research organisation (CRO) specialising in preclinical drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK). During her time at XenoGesis, Sangita worked alongside Wendy Tomlinson, our Chief Scientific Officer, Paul Cato, our Senior Research Scientist, and Liz Rendall, our Customer & Scientific Support Officer. As part of the in vitro DMPK team, she contributed to a range of projects, from target validation to lead optimisation, with a focus on cell-based screening.

Following her time at XenoGesis, Sangita worked as part of the Bioscience team at Charnwood Discovery, where she was instrumental in the optimisation and development of high-throughput screening assays and bespoke biological assays.

Her appointment kicks off an exciting year for Platelet Services, with a busy calendar ahead, including our participation in SOT in Orlando, in Phoenix later this year. Additionally, we are set to collaborate with numerous clients, both old and new, across the biotech and pharmaceutical sector.

Commenting on her new role, Sangita said:

“It is a pleasure to join the Platelet Services team. Having previously worked  with members of the team, I am well aware of the exceptional talent and expertise within the organisation. I look forward to working with our clients and contributing to exciting new projects.”

 Dr Natalia Dovlatova, CEO, said:

“It is really exciting to once again be expanding the team at Platelet Services, following the appointments of Paul Cato in 2022, and Liz Rendall in 2023. Sangita is a fantastic addition to the team and her expertise will be invaluable in meeting the increasing demand for our platelet function testing services and advancing our assay development capabilities.”
