Recently we celebrated five years as Platelet Services and in this blog we are looking back on some of our highlights over the last five years and our plans for the future.
Our history
We began the company in 2018 with 4 part-time consultants and now are a talented team of 7. We have worked with over 50 companies and are currently on our 75th study, having obtained repeat business from several companies as a result of our quality data. The Platelet Services team is incredibly skilled and passionate about the results that we provide to clients. We’ve come such a long way since our first anniversary, and are very proud of each milestone.
Our proudest moments
Three days before lockdown in 2020, we took up lab space in BioCity, Nottingham and have since then more than doubled this space. We were able to continue delivering to clients during the pandemic, something we are incredibly proud of as this was a challenging time for everyone. At our labs in BioCity we have established and grown an on-site donor panel, ensuring access to high-quality blood samples, and have invested in two flow cytometers and advanced higher throughput 96-well plate format assays.
In 2020 we took on Charlotte as Platelet Services’ first official employee after she graduated from her Master’s in Haematology and Transfusion. She has been with the team ever since and we are tremendously proud of how she has developed as a scientist.
We welcomed Wendy as our Chief Scientific Officer in 2021 and her expertise allowed us to optimise our processes and deliverables as well as guide further growth of the team. Since her appointment we have welcomed two more members to the Platelet Services team, Paul our Senior Research Scientist, and most recently Liz, who joined the team in November as Scientific Support Coordinator.
Earlier this year we took part in a Vision and Values session, which was a great opportunity to appreciate the hard-working employees we have at Platelet Services and to ensure that our goals and values are aligned as a team. You can read more about our vision and values here.
Looking to the future
In the next five years we hope to continue to grow, employing more staff and taking up more lab space as we do so. We would also like to further expand our offering of platelet tests and potentially work with other cell types.
While we have many goals for the future, our main goals is to keep enjoying the ride. We would like to continue to work together as a team and solve platelet puzzles of different natures to aid future drug discovery projects.
We would like to extend a thank you to our clients, contacts, and friends who have supported us on our five-year journey. We look forward to seeing what the future holds.
